Industrial Craft 2 has been removed from the mods, the information presented here is for reference only.

IndustrialCraft 2 (IC2) was one of the largest mods in Big Dig. It was removed in 1.3.2, when Big Dig upgraded to Minecraft 1.5.2.

The power source in IndustrialCraft 2 is called EU. There are many different ways to generate EU, ranging from a simple coal generator, to renewable solar panels and windmills, to an advanced Nuclear Reactor. EU is stored in a BatBox, MFE, or MFSU and is carried through cables/wires to machines. All IC2 machines require this power in varying quantities, and use it to perform many different functions. Using the Power Converters mod, it is possible to convert this type ofation, see EU. (Needs link)

IndustrialCraft 2 includes many different machines. Some are involved in ore processing, like the Macerator, which grinds ore into 2 dust; the Electric Furnace, which uses EU to smelt and cook things; and the Miner, a method of auto-mining that isn't well known. Others are more specialized, like the Cropmatron, which automatically grows the IC2 special crops, and the Mass Fabricator, which crates matter from energy.

Tools and ArmorEdit

IndustrialCraft 2 has many tools needed for it to function. These include the Treetap, a tool used to extract rubber from Rubber Trees, and the Wrench, the multi-purpose tool for machine manipulation. The basic idea: right-click with a wrench to remove the machine or get only the machine block back! To round out the basic tools, you can also use Bronze to make the noral toolset. Bronze has the strength of iron with greater longevity.

EU isn't just for machines; there are several electric tools that have functions similar to their normal counerparts. The tools are fairly simple and self-explanatory: the Mining/ Diamond drill, a shovel/pick/axe cross; an electric hoe, wrench, and treetap; and the NanoSaber. This powerful weapon does 10 hearts of damage in one hit, enough to one-shot an unarmored player!

There is also special new armor sets to counter these effects: generic Bronze armor, the mighty Nano suit, which only weakness is the NanoSaber, and the all-powerful Quantum suit, famous for making you literally invincible while charged! There is also a hazmat suit used when in the vicinity of a reactor, a scuba helmet that consumes Compressed Air Cells, and the famous Rubber Boots, which greatly reduce falling damage.
